The hope that the madness does not spread before its destination, soon becomes a desperate struggle for survival by all passengers of this Flight Of The Dead. Zephyr World Airlines is the nucleus of J.D. Allen’s collapse of society. From the deserts of Las Vegas to the rural countryside of Pennsylvania, Allen continues his Night of the Living Dead saga by way of friendly skies. His character driven dystopia-zombie story consists of an assortment of passengers that include a twelve year old heart patient, a priest, several drug smugglers and an Elvis impersonator. These picturesque personalities provide plenty of subplots that go perfectly with the living corpses that wander throughout each and every chapter. From the aircraft lavatory to the flight deck cockpit, the snapping teeth action is nonstop. You would be surprised what handy weapons are available on a plane. Pardon my French, but J.D. Allen is the shit and I love his books. His novel, They’re Coming To Get You, Barbara! was genius. Which brings us full circle to Flight Of The Dead. I love how Allen incorporates the foundation of what Romero established. Not only the classic news reports of “…the unburied dead are coming back to life and seeking victims..” but literally offers the reader a first class ticket to the unforgettable year of 1968. 
Flight Of The Dead is definitely something you can sink your teeth into. It has everything you would want in a ghoul filled piece of dark fiction. Dare I speak the words…J.D. Allen is the new Brian Keene? Grab one of his books and you be the judge. Pay close attention to the lit Fasten Seatbelts sign, it’s gonna be one hell of a bumpy ride. A strong Horror Bookworm Recommendation for all those undead fans!
