Mom and dad leave town. Brothers Randell and Boyd are left home alone. A mysterious salesman appears at their door offering a free tablet type device. When experimenting with the electronic gadget, the duo happen to find one of Boyd’s favorite cartoon shows, The Adventures Of Harry Hare. The unthinkable happens when Harry Hare is pulled into Boyd and his bully of an older brother’s reality. Long white furry ears, gloved hands and wielding his mischief mallet, Boyd’s favorite cartoon character appears in the flesh. What could possibly go wrong? Author Shane McKenzie has reinvented himself into a cereal eating, Saturday morning cartoon watching, author of violence, pain and suffering (well, that last part isn’t a reinvention, he’s always had a penchant for bizarre brutality). Stab The Rabbit is a crazy adventure of animated proportions, its chaos and mischievous mayhem give a vibe of Dr. Seuss’ Cat In The Hat meets The Purge. Shane McKenzie is a storyteller in the grandest sense of the word, he provides a unique visual to his weird artistic world. Cartoon critters such as Harry Hare, Cooter Coon, Putt Putt the Platypus and the lovable big lug known as Backwoods Bear exist within his Cartoon World. Stab The Rabbit has a one-of-a-kind violent energy of fresh decadence that has a “caught lightning in a bottle” experience. Dripping with a variety of cartoon hues, your next page is only a twitch and spasm away. (By the way, if you dig deep enough within this cereal box of brutality you will discover a few prizes. An additional Shane short story of horrific atrocity, and a visit from that neighborhood peeping-tom Aron Beauregard, who provides a sneak peek into their upcoming collaboration entitled Benjamin.)
